Whether you’re just starting out or looking to train regularly, our timetable is designed to fit around busy lives. All sessions are welcoming and beginner-friendly, so you can join in regardless of age, fitness level, or experience.
We run Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and Combined Fighting Arts (CFA) classes throughout the week for adults and teens of all experience levels.
If it’s your first time, we’ll walk you through everything when you arrive and match you with friendly training partners to help you settle in quickly.

When you arrive, you'll get a friendly welcome from one of our coaches. There are changing rooms on site, so just turn up in whatever you're comfortable in, no kit needed. We'll sort you out with everything else.
Your first class lasts one hour. You'll jump straight in with the group for the warmup - it's relaxed, nobody is going to single you out or throw you in the deep end. From there, the coaches will keep an eye on you throughout and make sure you're paired with someone who'll help you along rather than overwhelm you.
By the end of the hour you'll have learned something real, had a good workout, and met some genuinely friendly people. Most first-timers tell us they wished they'd come sooner.

Mark Hayes
Chief Instructor
Mark is the main instructor for Crucible BJJ. With over 4 decades of Martial Arts experience under his belt, has seen Mark gain Black belts in Karate, Kickboxing and Filipino Martial Arts, Instructor levels in Jeet Kune Do and is a Black belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu under Simon McGovern.

Association Head Instructor
Simon is a 3rd Degree Black belt in BJJ and teaches out of the McGovern Academy in Stoke on Trent, Simon makes regular visits to Mark's clubs and is responsible for the overall growth, development and grading of the students who train at Lincoln BJJ and Crucible BJJ Sheffield.

Tony Rixon
Assistant Instructor
Tony has been training with Mark since 2003, achieved his Black belt in Combined Fighting Arts in 2008 and Apprentice Instructor in 2016, 2018 saw him gain his Apprentice Instructor under the IMB, Tony is a Black belt in BJJ and assists in Instructing all the classes at Crucible BJJ.
For your first Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu class, it's best to wear comfortable athletic clothing such as a t-shirt and shorts or leggings. Avoid clothing with pockets or anything that could get caught during training.
